This is a Galloup "Monarch" acoustic bass, with HSC, custom built by our very own luthier Ian Pender. He made it at the Galloup School of Lutherie in Fall of 2009. It's gorgeous, featuring a solid Sitka spruce top, solid flame maple back and sides, nitrocellulose high-gloss finish, and beautiful inlays. Extremely light and resonant, excellent projection. There's some light cosmetic wear on it (light scuffs, scratches, light chips on edges of fretboard {touched up before going out for sale}, normal playing wear). There's finish checking beginning in the nitro on the side (lower bout, treble side, please see picture). There's no pickup system installed - definitely message us if you're interested in a pickup system and installation. This is a one-of-a kind find if you've been seeking a high quality acoustic bass. If you have any questions about it please don't hesitate to ask!

  • Sitka source top, with maple back and sides, maple binding, and contrasting black and maple purfling/rosette. Body dimensions are 11 1/2” wide at shoulder, 10" wide at waist, and 16 1/8" at lower bout. Body tapers in thickness from 3 11/16" at neck to 4 5/8" at end wedge.
  • Five piece Honduran mahogany neck with maple stringers, Gotoh tuners, ebony fingerboard, heel cap, and peghead overlay. Medium jumbo frets, 30" short scale.
