Based on the ever-popular Discovery Concert platform, this larger body guitar is bold, beautiful and balanced with a Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, but with additional sound and projection from the Concerto body. This guitar is ideal for a player looking for a big body sound with more tonal complexity and comfortable playing experience.
When Breedlove set out to create a guitar that would surpass the classic big body sound of the dreadnought, they didn’t just want it to be loud. They sought to bring out more tonal complexity, and to offer a much more comfortable playing experience, too. Introducing the Breedlove Concerto, a guitar shape created to elicit more volume than a classic dreadnought and more lush, complex tonal resonance in a comfortable body shape that feels just right. Loud, textured, and supremely satisfying.
Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
Sitka spruce, Picea sitchensis, originates in the northwest United States. Sitka spruce has been the primary top wood for American-made instruments for decades. It is strong and light with extended harmonic content, and it nearly equals the power of Adirondack. It offers a strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental -- perfect for flatpicking styles. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Sitka takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. It has a straight uniform grain and coloration ranges from white to pink to light brown.
This guitar is considered a B-Stock due to a small dent in the finish next to the soundhole, as well as a light warp to the wood on the back side, near the strap button on the lower binding as can be seen in photos.
As always, this guitar ships fully insured with signature required.
