In April 2023, a remarkable meeting took place at the Taylor factory in El Cajon, California. Geoff and Jeep joined forces with master luthier Andy Powers to handpick exquisite wood sets for a few extraordinary, one-of-a-kind guitars. Amidst the stacks of Honduran Rosewood, a visually light set caught their attention, evoking the spirit of traditional Pre-War Dreadnought guitars. Thus, the concept was born, and every feature of this guitar pays homage to that timeless design.
A Resonant Journey Back in Time
The Taylor Grand Pacific, in a nod to its heritage, embodies the traditional characteristics of a Pre-War Dreadnought. From the bone nut material to the elegant, small diamond Mother of Pearl fretboard inlays, and the Grained Ivoroid binding with a matching rosette, every detail captures the essence of that classic design. The 5-ply Black/Cream/Black/Cream/Cream/Black perfling adds a touch of simplicity and elegance.
Craftsmanship and Country Spirit
Complete with a tooled Western covered hard shell case and an optional tortoiseshell-look pickguard, this guitar is truly one of a kind. It resonates with a rich low end and upper mid-range articulation, reminiscent of a genuine pre-war vintage acoustic dreadnought. Crafted with hand-chosen Honduran Rosewood and a Roasted (Torrefied) Sitka Spruce top, this guitar's tone pays tribute to the classics while embracing modern craftsmanship.
