This guitar was inspired by the Tom Anderson guitar that Pete Anderson has played for years. He's a truly great picker and producer- if you aren't familiar with him you should check out any of his work with Dwight Yoakum. We changed the color from Olympic White to Dakota Red but the specs are otherwise the same. It's the best of both worlds- a Tele-style guitar with Strat-style body contours, neck & middle pickups and tremolo. The neck & middle pickups are vintage output while the bridge pickup is wound for more muscle. All three pickups are hum-canceling. This guitar doesn't have quite as much twang & bite as a hardtail T but it gets pretty close and covers a LOT of sonic ground.
Tom's guitars are all super ergonomic. This one is super comfortable whether it's on a strap or on your lap and the contoured heel makes it easy to get all the way up the neck. It's very touch sensitive- sweet when played lightly but if you dig in it will really snarl. It seems to do everything well; it chimes nicely through a clean amp and really sings with some gain. Single notes have great overtones while chords are big but articulate. This is just a great sounding guitar.
The neck fills the palm nicely but never feels too big. The wedge neck pocket provides more contact area between neck & body and literally locks the neck in place. Fretwork is immaculate & the Buzz Feiten tuning system insures that even the tightest chord clusters play in tune all the way up the neck. Fit & finish are absolutely flawless.
