Here's another guitar inspired by Pete Anderson. If you aren't familiar with his work, you should check out some of the stuff he did with Dwight Yoakam. We changed the color on this one to Daphne Blue, added a caramel maple neck and gave it a mint green guard that really pops. This guitar is kind of the perfect marriage between a tele and a strat. It has a tele style bridge pickup and strat style pickups in the middle and neck positions. It's also got strat like body contours and a trem. The middle and neck pickups are vintage output and the bridge pickup is wound just a little bit hotter so you can have that extra punch when you need it. All three pickups are hum canceling. While this guitar doesn't have quite the bite of a traditional hard-tail tele, it gets pretty close, and covers a lot of ground while doing so.
Tom's guitars are super ergonomic, and this one feels great whether it's on a strap or on your lap. The contoured heel makes access to the upper register of the guitar effortless. Single notes are dripping with overtones and seem to hang forever, while chords are big and articulate. This is just a great sounding and playing guitar. It's perfect for the stage or the studio.
The neck fills the palm nicely but never feels too big. The wedge neck pocket provides more contact area between neck and body and literally locks the neck in place. Fretwork is immaculate and the Buzz Feiten tuning system insures that even the tightest chord clusters play in tune all the way up the neck. Fit and finish are absolutely flawless.
